What IS Counselling?

'The task of counselling is to give the client an opportunity to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more resourcefully and towards greater wellbeing'

British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

How Counselling Helps

With greater knowledge of yourself and increased confidence, counselling allows you to do the following:

  • Understand and Manage Stress with Coping Strategies
  • Explore Unhelpful Patterns of Thoughts and Behaviours
  • Setting Goals
  • Create a More Fulfilling Life
  • Learn to Focus and Live in the Present
  • Learn to Be More Compassionate to Oneself and Others
  • Use Mindfulness
  • Explore Feelings Around Loss and Grief

Depending on circumstances and issues, you may have difficulty coping with certain situations. This presents itself in a variety of ways, including:

  • Anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Stress

I work in an integrative way, and this means that I draw upon a range of approaches. This allows me to see what suits you best. Together, we explore the things you’re experiencing and how they’re impacting on your mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. Often I’m able to identify the triggers that are contributing to your behaviours.

My Counselling Sessions

A counselling session with me lasts for 50 minutes which is known as 'The Therapeutic Hour'.  As a qualified counsellor, I abide by a particular code of ethics, these ethics also mean that I have regular supervision and that I must work as a member of a professional organisation, linked to counselling or psychotherapy. As part of this, I’m also required to hold indemnity insurance.

Whether you’re looking for short-term, long-term, or open-ended sessions, you will be able to talk through your requirements at the consultation.

If you would like some more information on my services please call me.

Prices

An initial consultation costs £35.
The following sessions cost £45 each.
I offer reduced rates for students and those on a low income.

Counselling TESTIMONIALS

I have been a client of Caroline
for the last 4 years.
In which time she has helped support &
navigate me through some tumultuous & challenging life situations
including compromised health issues & the death of a parent.

I always feel heard & Caroline's calm measured non judgmental attitude has been a peaceful haven in times of great stress.
Always offering an intuitive solution but never forcing her own thoughts & opinions onto me or the situation.
it is a good dynamic to have in a counsellor - client partnership.
I always have a sense of free will to find my own solution without pressure & I have never felt that my personal integrity has been infringed.

Sue

Caroline literally helped me turn my life around. I was in a dark place but she helped me find a way through it.
I owe her more than I can say.
I would happily recommend her to anyone.

Since starting with Caroline two and a half years agohave gained so much confidence in dealing with my anxiety.
She has taught me valuable techniques to help me manage any situation life throws at me.
Above all else she is always there to focus my thoughts and be a kind face along the way.

Sarah

Caroline is an excellent therapist.
She offers a safe and nourishing environment enabling one to find that freedom of space to
address and work through any specific worries or deep-seated problems for the better.

I often wonder what life would be like if I hadn’t have decided to find a counsellor.
I’ve realised that Caroline has been invaluable in the ongoing
facilitation and regular support of my need for positive change, a recovered
loss of self esteem met with her encouragement and acknowledgement at each stage of positive progression.
She is an
understanding and caring practitioner who is highly professional at all times
